Being licensed to work within the security industry now means that members are respected within the industry and operate according to the SIA code of behavior, adhering to national minimum standards. Employers will only recruit licensed staff to work within specific sectors. The SIA has talked to service suppliers, customers, training organizations, awarding bodies, trade associations, local government and the police to achieve a broad agreement on the approach to be taken in developing and delivering training and qualifications leading to licensing.
